 Chaithanya Sight Foundation

Chaithanya Sight Foundation was started in July 1997 as a Charitable Trust mainly to cater community ophthalmic services to the poor and the needy especially in rural areas. As a matter of fact, it was an offshoot of Chaithanya Eye Hospital & Research Institute, a Super Specialty Eye Hospital with all modern facilities. This ISO 9001:2008, NABH certified hospital treats more than 1 lakh patients including foreigners in a year and is recognized by various Government and other agencies for the eye treatment of their employees and their families. When this hospital was started, the management noticed that there were many people in our society who badly needed the modern treatment but could not afford the cost.  So, we thought that it was our duty to make these facilities available in deserving cases at free of cost; the aim being prevention of blindness.

A. Rural outreach eye camps

Chaithanya Sight Foundation is organizing outreach rural camps for identifying persons needing treatment of eye diseases, who are ignorant of the facilities for treatment or who cannot afford  or have access to them

We have a dedicated team to organize community outreach camps. We receive requests to hold camps from local camp organizations like NGO’s, Clubs etc. After the assessment of the strength and capacity of the organization we give a convenient date to them. Then we will explain the process and objectives to the local organizers, who are then responsible for Publicity other arrangements which is necessary for conducting camps. When the camp venue is fixed, the camp co-ordinator will visit the camp site to check whether the venue is providing the facilities to conduct camps.

Patients requiring further investigation or surgical treatment are advised to come the base hospital for further management. Free Cataract Surgeries are offered to poor patients. Other surgeries/ treatment are offered at concessional rate and in really deserving cases free treatment is also given. Chaithanya Sight foundation has conducted free rural outreach camps in different parts of Trivandrum, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Kottayam Districts.
