Senior Consultant

Dr. Manoj S, DNB, MNAMS, FICO, FRCS (Glasgow), FVRS joined the Vitreo retinal services in Chaithanya Eye Hospital in 2006. He completed his basic ophthalmology training at the famed Aravind Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Madurai. He completed his Vitreo retinal surgical fellowship in the same institute and a visiting fellowship at Wilmer Eye Institute, Baltimore, USA. He also completed observerships at Retina Vitreous Associates of New York, Corneal Eye Hospital and Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute (Ocular oncology). He later served as a consultant at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai and as Head of the Vitreo retinal services at Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry before joining this institute. He is experienced in managing various medical and surgical vitreo-retinal conditions with special interests in treating Diabetic eye problems, ARMD and ROP. He is also involved in conducting the short term and long term Medical retinal fellowship by the hospital and takes active interest in the post graduate training programme. He was also in charge of the community diabetic retinopathy screening programme - TRINETRA (a three year project) implemented by the hospital in coordination with World Diabetes Foundation. He has made numerous presentations in various State and National academic meets and conferences. He was the recipient of the Padmabushan Dr.Siva Reddy award for the best paper at the Kerala Sate Ophthalmology Conference in 2008 .He also received Posterior segment best paper award in2011,SankaraMenon Award in 2012 and S.Natarajan Award in 2012.
