OPTOMETRY COURSES
- Clinical Internship in Optometry
Goals and Responsibilities:
The Clinical Internship program will be a twelve months program, and the minimum amount of time to be devoted to clinical work will be 6 days per week. This clinical work will consist primarily of clinical posting with optometrists / ophthalmologists and independent patient care.
Objective :
i. To understand the basic and advanced principles of Clinical Optometry
ii. To do a thorough comprehensive eye examination
iii. To be familiar with basic and advanced diagnostic procedures in Optometry
iv. To be a competent Optometry Professional with exposure to multi-lingual, multicultural clinical environment and ability to handle different types of patients
v. To make appropriate referrals.
Eligibility:
Candidate should have completed third year of optometry training (without any backlog/s) from a recognized optometry school/college/institute . All candidates must undergo an Online basic written exam and personal interview /clinical skills assessment which include objective refraction, subjective refraction and assessment of ocular health.
Location:
The training would be provided mainly in Trivandrum ,Kollam,Kottayam,Thiruvalla,Palarivattom Branches.
Duration : One Year
Intake time : August Month
No. of seats : 50 seats per year
- Fellowship in Clinical Optometry(FCO)
- Diploma in Ophthalmic assistant (DOA)
Goals and Fellow Responsibilities:
The FELLOWSHIP program will be a twelve months program, and the minimum amount of time to be devoted to clinical Work will be 6 days per week. This clinical work will consist primarily of clinical posting with optometrists / ophthalmologists and independent patient care. To do emergency duties on Sunday and night emergency duties according to roster.
Eligibility:
-The candidate should have completed 4 years of optometry education from a recognized optometry school/college/institute.
-All fellow must undergo a basic written exam and personal interview /clinical skills assessment which include objective refraction, subjective refraction and assessment of ocular health.
Location:
The training would be provided mainly in Trivandrum Branch. During the program, the fellows would be posted to other cities for gaining exposure.
Frequency: Twice a year (March and September)
No of seats : 10 seats per year
