Dr Joseph completed his MBBS from Justice KS Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore, Diploma in Ophthalmology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, DNB (Ophthalmology) and FVRS (Long term fellowship in Medical & Surgical Management of Retina & Vitreous Disease) from Aravind Eye Hospital & Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, Tirunelveli, and MRCS (Ophth) from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK.

He previously worked as a Consultant Medical Officer in the Department of Retina & Vitreous Services at Aravind Eye Hospital & Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology. Prior to this, he served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Surgeon at St Joseph Eye & ENT Hospital.

He also serves as a Visiting Cataract and Topical Phaco Surgeon at Jyothi Christian Hospital (Emmanuel Hospital Association, New Delhi).
